Michael Milken, chairman of the Milken Institute, has been at the forefront of successful initiatives in medical research, education, public health, and access to capital for nearly five decades. Fortune magazine called him "The Man Who Changed Medicine." In 1982 he formalized his previous philanthropy by co-founding the Milken Family Foundation. Later, he founded the Milken Institute, a non-partisan public think tank.
When the coronavirus pandemic swept the world in 2020, Mike redirected all ten of the Institute’s centers to confront the crisis. The Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University, named to recognize an Institute gift, has also led the search for solutions.
As a financier, he revolutionized modern capital markets by pricing and rewarding risk more efficiently. The thousands of entrepreneurs and companies he financed created millions of jobs. A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Milken earned his M.B.A. at the Wharton School. Kerry Murphy Healey
Kerry Healey’s career spans higher education, elected office, and foreign and domestic policy. In July 2019, she capped six years as the first woman president of Babson College, the 100-year-old business school consistently ranked as the country’s leading institution in entrepreneurship education. During her tenure at Babson, Healey championed women entrepreneurs, created greater affordability and access for students, and oversaw a dramatic $200 million renewal of the Wellesley campus.
Previously, Healey served as Massachusetts Lieutenant Governor, where she led bipartisan efforts to improve services for the homeless, tackle the opioid crisis, and increase protections for victims of child abuse, drunk driving accidents, and sexual and domestic violence.
Healey has been a fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government’s Institute of Politics and Center for Public Leadership, and is on the International Council of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. She holds an AB in government from Harvard College and a PhD in political science and law from Trinity College, Dublin. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a trustee of the American University of Afghanistan.
COO / General Counsel
Ms. Mazzone came to the Center from Fidelity Investments, where she served as Deputy General Counsel and Senior Vice President, as well as COO for the fiduciary oversight divisions of Fidelity’s Asset Management business. Marty was a partner in Foley Hoag’s litigation practice in Boston, after starting her legal career at Latham & Watkins in Washington, DC. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Ms. Mazzone served as a policymaker and administrator in child welfare and juvenile justice state agencies and as Deputy Director for US Chapters for Special Olympics International. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Massachusetts Appleseed Center for Law and Justice and the Board of Trustees of Greater Boston Legal Services.
Chief of Design and Construction
David Grissino was trained as an architect and spent the early part of his career as part of design teams for a variety of building types, ranging from college residence halls to libraries to performing arts facilities. David also oversaw the creation of college and university campus master plans and urban revitalization plans for communities across the country. Following his years in the design studio, David transitioned into a governmental role as a Senior Urban Designer with the Boston Redevelopment Authority, working closely with the city’s many educational and medical institutions on their long term planning and construction projects. Immediately prior to joining CAAD, David was the Director of Capital Projects and Planning at Babson College and completed the programming, design and construction of five major projects and several small capital renewal and renovation projects.
Throughout his career, David has successfully collaborated with large, diverse groups of people to find common ground, creative solutions, and consensus on complex development and design issues. He is passionate about, and motivated by, working with mission-driven institutions that help bring about positive change in the world and enhance the quality of life in the communities of which they are a vital part. In his free time, David volunteers on several non-profit boards and committees and is also a four-time Boston Marathon finisher and fundraiser for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
Director of Development
Ellett Toomey joined the Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream as the Director of Development, responsible for implementing a fundraising strategy to raise hundreds of millions of dollars over the next several years in support of the Center’s mission. She previously served as Director of Development & Strategic Partnerships at Fight For Children, a non-profit serving low-income student athletes in Washington, D.C. Ellett began her career at the American Enterprise Institute, where she managed a capital campaign to raise funds for AEI’s new headquarters. She holds her BA and Masters from the University of Virginia and her MBA from Georgetown University.
Enoh T. Ebong
Head of Strategic Partnerships
Enoh Ebong joined the Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream in January 2020, where she drives the development of strategic partnerships in fulfillment of the mission to tell the dynamic story of the American Dream, and secure it for future generations. Previously, Ms. Ebong served as a U.S. government Senior Executive Service member, General Counsel, and strategist recognized for leading and advancing international public-private partnerships, as the former Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer of the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA). A dynamic grantmaking government agency, USTDA partners with the U.S. private sector to develop sustainable infrastructure and foster economic growth in emerging economies, while generating U.S. exports and supporting the creation of jobs.
Prior to joining USTDA, Ms. Ebong practiced law at the Boston office of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris and Popeo, P.C., representing public and private companies in public offerings, financing transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance issues.
Ms. Ebong earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School, a Master of Arts in Communication from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania, and a Master of Arts in History, with Honors, from The University of Edinburgh, Scotland. She is a member of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Bar. Originally from Nigeria, Ms. Ebong is a U.S. citizen and lives in Washington, D.C.
Isabel Connelly joined the Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream in March 2020 and serves as the Development Associate. Prior, Isabel worked at Heidrick & Struggles, an executive search firm, where she helped place C-suite executives and board members in the non-profit and education industries. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Georgetown University and is a dual Spanish-American citizen.
Strategic Partnerships Associate
Sydney Krieck joined the Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream in June of 2020 as the Strategic Partnerships Associate. Prior, Sydney managed Special Projects at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, where she focused on a variety of center-wide initiatives, including the re-design of the Internship program, the Citizen Artist Fellow Program, and most notably, managing the opening of the REACH expansion space. Originally from a small town in New Jersey, Sydney studied at American University and holds B.A. degrees in Music and Anthropology.
