ARTEFFECT Gallery
ARTEFFECT is a visual arts education initiative, founded by Lowell Milken, that invites educators and students to explore the inspiring stories of Unsung Heroes and their invaluable lessons as role models through visual arts.
This gallery features award-winning contemporary art by young artists from around the globe. Visual artworks and short films celebrate Unsung Heroes―role models, largely unrecognized by society, who demonstrated extraordinary heroic traits and actions in service to others and made a positive and profound impact on the course of history.

Visualizing Impact
ARTEFFECT presents its inaugural exhibition, Visualizing Impact, showcasing over 40 award-winning projects by young artists in grades 6-12 focused on the inspiring stories of Unsung Heroes.
Unsung Heroes demonstrated extraordinary character traits such as courage, compassion, perseverance, and responsibility, and took heroic actions that made a positive and profound impact on the lives of others. They did not seek fame while motivated by their dreams to improve society and make the world a better place. Students creatively consider these untold stories through an array of artistic expressions and reflections.
The diverse stories of Unsung Heroes span centuries and cut across multiple disciplines including civil rights, education, innovation, healthcare, STEAM, and wartime history. Unsung Heroes not only dreamed of a brighter future, but also took actions to realize those dreams. As young artists investigate Unsung Heroes as role models, they awaken to their own potential and the power of artmaking to stimulate positive change.
Experience the transformative power of the visual arts and discover connections between the past, present and future through an engaging and interactive experience!
ARTEFFECT is an initiative of the Lowell Milken Center for Unsung Heroes and the Lowell Milken Family Foundation.
